🌿 What You’ll See
The monarchs are migrating, the otters are chirping through the bends, and raptors are everywhere — from bald eagles to red-tailed hawks and even peregrine falcons. Beavers are active this season too, so keep an eye out for fresh chews and lodge signs along the banks.
Obstacles are easily navigable, and the current is mellow — perfect for beginners and seasoned paddlers alike.

You’re officially on the list for our **6-Mile Greenbelt Wildlife Paddle on August 16!**
Trade the hot pavement and crowded lake for six miles of winding river, towering trees, shady banks, cool water, and some of the best wildlife watching in North Texas. 🌿
And this paddle comes with a little extra spice: **your paddle ticket automatically includes ONE ENTRY in our August 16 raffle featuring more than $1,000 in prizes!** 🎟️🔥
Here’s everything you need to know:
## 🕗 EVENT TIMELINE
**8:00 AM — Meet & Check-In**
Arrive early enough to unload, get your gear situated, check in, and be completely paddle-ready before our safety briefing.
**9:30 AM — LAUNCH! 🛶**
We’ll gather for a quick safety briefing before launching together into the Greenbelt.
Our mid-paddle lunch stop is at the **historic Old Denton Bridge**, so pack a cold lunch, picnic, or your favorite river snacks. 🥪🍉

Every registered August 16 paddler receives **ONE automatic entry** into our event raffle.
We’ll have **more than $1,000 in prizes** up for grabs from Adventure Paddles and participating partners. 🎁

Additional event vendors and community partners **may also be onsite**, so leave a little time to look around before or after your paddle.

## 🌿 WHAT MIGHT WE SEE?
The Greenbelt doesn't hand out a wildlife itinerary, which is exactly why we love it.
Keep watch for:
🦦 River otters cruising the bends
🦫 Beavers and fresh bank activity
🦅 Bald eagles, hawks and other raptors
🪶 Great blue herons and egrets
🐢 Turtles soaking up the summer sun
🦋 Butterflies and dragonflies working the river corridor
🌿 And whatever else decides to swim, fly, crawl, splash, or wander into our morning

## ☀️ SUMMER CONDITIONS
It's August in Texas. The thermostat has chosen violence. 🔥
The Greenbelt offers plenty of tree cover and shade, but **hydration is non-negotiable.** Bring more water than you think you'll need, use electrolytes, wear sunscreen, and dress for hot-weather paddling.
Adventure Paddles will monitor **weather, river conditions, and upstream releases** leading into the event. Registered paddlers will be contacted if conditions require any changes.

Six miles of river, no traffic lights, no doomscrolling, and plenty of time to discover somebody else looks suspiciously good holding a paddle. 😉

I-35 North → Loop 288 N → FM 428 E → Greenbelt entrance
**From McKinney:**
Hwy 380 W → Hwy 377 N → FM 428 W → Greenbelt entrance

Cancellation Policy
**Cancellation Policy:** To cancel any paddle, please text us at 469-806-7400. If rentals are involved, your cancellation within 24hours of event will automatically trigger a gift card for the rental amount. You may also request to move your rental to the next available date. In the event of a weather-related cancellation, you will be automatically rebooked for the next available date unless you contact us to make other arrangements.
