**ITEM SPECIFIC CANCELLATION NOTES**
(hire charge continues until equipment returned to LDA base and no refund for early return)
On booking Hirer agrees to the following terms:
1. Hirer warrants that all members of the party are suitably fit and experienced to use the equipment hired and LDA shall not accept any responsibility if the hirer and or any member of the hire party is unable to use the equipment for the full hire period. If hirer requires shuttle pick up due to not completing their hire, there will be an additional charge.
2. Hirer responsible for the safe return of all equipment specified above undamaged and in the same good condition as upon commencement of hire.
3. Hirer responsible for ensuring that all members of the hire party use the equipment properly and safely and in compliance with good safe practice and the laws of New Zealand including use of safety equipment (lifejackets etc (supplied by LDA)). Kayaks/SUP’s are not to be used after half an hour after sunset unless on a guided Glow Worm Tour.
4. Children under 16 years to be always accompanied by an adult.
5. Hire will be refused or revoked at any time if LDA determines at its sole discretion that the Hirer or any member of the hire party is under the influence of drink or drugs. (In that event no refund will be given.)
6. Any damage, loss or injury to property/equipment/person not covered by New Zealand Accident Compensation or LDA insurance shall be the personal responsibility of the hirer for the whole of the hire party. (Terms of LDA insurance available upon request). In the event of late return, damage or loss to equipment hired the Hirer authorises LDA to charge the cost of additional hire charges and/or remedying loss or damage of equipment to the Hirer’s nominated credit card.
7. At its sole discretion LDA will endeavour to accommodate delays or changes to the period of hire and/or tour due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, however, LDA is under no obligation to do so.
The Hirer is personally responsible for the safe and undamaged return of all equipment hired.

**Itinerary**
**Arrive & check-in** – Arrive at our base and check in for your kayak hire. Please allow time to get organised before heading out.
**Safety briefing & setup** – Receive a quick safety briefing and get fitted with your kayak, paddle, and life jacket. We will also show you a map of the Pokaiwhenua open air canyon of where you can paddle.
**Launch & explore** – Head out onto Lake Karapiro and explore at your own pace. Paddle along the lake edge or venture into nearby areas such as the Pokaiwhenua Stream.
**Enjoy the experience** – Take your time to relax on the water, stop for photos, or find a quiet spot to enjoy the surroundings. Bring your own food and drink as there you can choose to have a picnic up the Pokaiwhenua stream or at our base.
**Return to base** – Paddle back and return your equipment by the end of your hire period.
**What to bring**
* Comfortable and weather appropriate clothing (quick-dry recommended, NOT jeans). Layers.
* Spare change of clothes & Towel.
* Water bottle, food and drink.
* Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.
**Special requirements**
* Participants must be confident in and around water.
* A reasonable level of fitness is required for paddling.
* Participants must be able to get in and out of a kayak with minimal assistance.
* Children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
* The hirer warrants that all party members are suitably fit and experienced to use the equipment.
* Maximum weight limit of 120kg.
* Please advise us in advance of any medical conditions or injuries.
* The hirer is responsible for the safe and undamaged return of all equipment; charges may apply for late return, damage, or loss.
**Restrictions**
* Hire will be refused or revoked if Riverside Adventures Waikato determines the hirer or any party members are under the influence of alcohol or drugs; no refund will be given in this case.
* Kayaks and SUPs must not be used more than 30 minutes after sunset unless part of a guided Glow Worm Tour.
* Participants must follow all safety instructions and remain within designated areas.
* Equipment must not be used in unsafe conditions or outside of recommended areas.
* All users must behave responsibly to ensure their own safety and the safety of others.
* Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
**Disclaimers**
* This is a self-guided activity; participants take part at their own risk.
* Riverside Adventures Waikato is not responsible for weather conditions on the day.
* Water and environmental conditions may change and are outside of our control.
* Participants are responsible for their own safety and personal belongings.
* Hire charges continue until all equipment is returned to the Riverside Adventures Waikato base; no refunds for early return.
* The hirer may be charged for damage, loss, or late return to the nominated credit card.
* In the event of breakdown or inability to complete the hire, recovery or shuttle pick-up may incur additional charges.
* Riverside Adventures Waikato may, at its discretion, accommodate delays or changes due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, but is not obliged to do so.
* Mobile phone coverage may be limited in some areas.
* All safety instructions provided must be followed at all times.
* Riverside Adventures Waikato reserves the right to refuse or cancel hire if conditions are deemed unsafe.

Important Information
* All participants must receive a safety briefing before heading out.
* Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) must be worn at all times while on the water.
* Participants must be confident in and around water.
* Basic paddling knowledge is recommended; paddlers must be able to control their kayak.
* Take care when entering and exiting kayaks, especially on slippery surfaces.
* Stay within designated areas and avoid strong currents or unsafe conditions.
* Be aware of other water users and maintain a safe distance.
* Check weather and water conditions before setting out.
* Carry water and appropriate clothing for the conditions.
* In case of emergency, return to shore safely and contact staff or emergency services if required.
