We are open from 9.30am until 4pm (last shuttle to dunes) returning to car park by 5.30pm. (extended hours during school holidays and long weekends)
About
We are the only company in Port Stephens that offers both stand up and sit down Sandboarding! You can choose between boards with or without bindings.
On our Sand Boarding Adventure, we will take you on a fun filled drive across the magnificent dunes to our private Sand Boarding area, where we have shade, tables and chairs set up. Bring a picnic!
On arrival you will be greeted by one of our friendly instructor/guides who will instruct you on the safe method of sand boarding for both sit down and stand up styles. We have all different sized dunes for all ages and abilities. It’s entirely up to you whether you sit or stand (or switch it up and do both). You can even ride tandem!

All instructors are certified in First Aid, with first aid kits on site.
What to Bring and Wear
**Dress for the weather. We suggest beach clothes during the summer and warmer clothes during winter.
**Bring some bottled water (and some snacks if you wish)
**Hats, sunscreen and sunglasses are recommended. Sandboarding is done barefoot, you can wear your shoes up to the location and take them off there.
**Camera/phone is a must to capture all those memories!
**Bring a small bag or backpack to put all your belongings in, we have somewhere out of the sand to place your things.

UPDATED EASTER 2026 : PLEASE NOTE THE LOWER CAR PARK IS OPEN BUT ONLY HAS LIMITED PARKING AVAILABLE.
Alternative parking can be found in the upper car park at the end of James Paterson St, along James Paterson St and at Robinson Reserve.

When you get to the surf club make sure everyone uses bathroom first as there are no toilets on the dunes. Also make sure everyone has bottled water. There is a water fountain outside the surf club where you can refill your bottles ☺️

##Check In
If you are late or early for our Sand Boarding Adventure, it’s not an issue as there is a 4WD shuttle every 15 minutes. There are no toilet facilities on the dunes so please ensure everyone visits the bathroom before joining our tours. There is a public bathroom at the Birubi Surfclub next to Crest Cafe (Upper carpark).
Please check in at our ticket booth in the lower car park. It has 2 black and white chequered flags on the roof (as per photo).
For all other tours, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour departure time as these tours depart on schedule. If you are running late please contact us on 0425 213 096. You can also text us on this number.

Sand Boarding is done barefoot, you can wear your shoes up to the location and take them off there. Please bring bottled water or you can purchase them from us for $1.50 per bottle (600ml). You can bring a bag/backpack to store belongings.
Our tours are done within a National Park and therefore we don't allow drones, domestic pets*, alcohol or glass containers.
*We will allow assistance animals as long as we are notified before your arrival. Relevant permits must be shown before they are allowed on our tours.
Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be received in writing via email to sanddunesafaris@live.com.au, or text us on 0425 213 096.
At least 24 hours notice must be given for any cancellation, a 100% cancellation fee will apply to cancellations within 24 hours of departure time. Alternatively we can also issue a credit or change the date or time (no fees for changing dates/times).
No Refunds will be given if the customer is a no show. In the case of bad weather, we reserve the right to cancel bookings. If it's decided to be unsafe for staff/customers and for the activity to go ahead , a full refund will be issued.
No refunds will be given due to change of mind.
