This scenic tour explores the Snook Islands Natural Area, one of Palm Beach County’s most successful environmental restoration projects. Once damaged by dredging, this area was transformed in 2005 into a vibrant ecosystem featuring 10 acres of red mangroves, 2.8 acres of Spartina marsh grass, 2.3 acres of oyster reef, and nearly 50 acres of seagrass. Today, it’s a haven for manatees, ospreys, shorebirds, and the tour’s namesake—the snook. Keep your eyes open for American oystercatchers, a species of special concern in Florida, that nest here each year.
Your journey begins at Bryant Park, where you’ll paddle under the Lake Worth Bascule Bridge and pass by “Uhane”, the striking mural painted by artist Sean Yoro in 2017. From there, you’ll glide into the calm, protected mangrove channels of Snook Islands. As you explore the area’s hidden corners and peaceful waterways, you’ll experience the natural beauty and serenity that make this tour unforgettable. The return trip follows the same route—giving you another chance to spot wildlife and capture great photos.
