Below you will find some important information that will help ensure a great experience for both you and others in your class.
##Review the [Medical Requirements](https://www.jacksdivinglocker.com/assets/Documents/10346E_Diver_Medical_Participant_Questionnaire_2022_02_1.pdf) as soon as possible:
If the form requires you to provide a signed doctor's approval prior to the start of class, please let us know as soon as possible so we can help if needed. Keep in mind that we absolutely cannot take you in the water until we have the signed form. If you wait to address this on the start day of the class you will be responsible for a cancellation fee in the amount of the daily rate of the class.
##Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation Policies can be found at the bottom of this message.
##Complete your [Online Course](https://jacksdivinglocker.com/products/elearning_open_water_diver) work prior to class:
We are only able to take you in the water if you have completed the required homework. PADI estimates that the online training takes 12-15 hours (though many of our students report significantly shorter times). Please let us know if you run into technical issues or need help with the content of the course. **Incomplete homework may result in costly cancellation and make-up fees, scheduling challenges, and/or being restricted to completing the more limited PADI Scuba Diver certification.**
##Practice your Swim Skills
There are two Water Skills tests for this course. If you are not certain you can complete them, find a pool with a lifeguard to practice in, or hire a swim instructor to get you ready to demonstrate them for your Instructor:
- 10-minute swim/float without using swim aids, or touching the sides of the pool
- 200 yard continuous surface swim or 300 yard swim with mask, fins, snorkel
**If you would like to do your swim tests in advance to reduce stress on the first day of your class, please contact us and we can schedule you to come in at any point prior to that.**
##Pre-Check in:
If possible, stop by the shop prior to the day of your course to get pre-checked in. This gives us a more relaxed opportunity meet you and address any paperwork issues that may arise. It also gives you an opportunity to purchase your log book.
If you are considering purchasing gear, we highly suggest making time to get in the pool to try out mask/fins/snorkel to ensure an optimal fit.
##Come Prepared:
- If you have limited swimming or snorkeling experience, look for opportunities to practice prior to the start of your course
- Put reef safe sunscreen on prior to arrival (available in our stores and you get a 10% student discount)
- Bring towels and wear your bathing suit. A warm shirt or light coat can be helpful for after you get out of the water on the boat dive
- Bring mask, snorkel, fins and a watch or dive computer (unless renting these items)
- Each day, we will provide a light lunch, juice and water
- If you are prone to seasickness, consult with your doctor about appropriate medications. Some students also report that it's helpful to test the effects of their medication prior to going on the boat to ensure that any side effects won't impair your abilities during the course
- Understand that the scheduled end times are estimates and vary greatly with class size and student comfort levels
Let us know if you have any questions.
