Jump on a kayak or paddleboard and enjoy the scenic Arizona landscape with every twist and turn of the Lower Salt River. With the ever-changing scenery, you will be in awe of Phoenix’s most well-known and influential waterways. This is the BEST opportunity to see the renowned Salt River Wild Horses.
- Learn to navigate moving water paddling Class I and sometimes Class II rapids.
- Tour times range from 2 to 4 hours. Guides will teach you about local history and the natural desert environment.
- Along with wild horses, you may spot other wildlife like river otters, bald eagles, raccoons, and coyotes.
Trip Details
**When:**
- Tours take place April through October and are subject to changing water flows.
- Days and times vary throughout the river season.
**Where:**
- Launch sites can vary due to changing water conditions. Our team will provide you with a GPS location of your launch site.
- Shuttle provided from the take-out site back to the launch site for drivers.
**What is Provided:**
- Kayak, seat, paddle, PFD (life jacket), dry bag, Tonto Forest Parking Pass, water, light snacks.
**What to Wear:**
- Hat, sunglasses, sun-safe clothing, shoes or all-terrain sandals that can get wet. Synthetic clothing in layers recommended in cooler weather.
**What to Bring:**
- Water, Snacks, Sunscreen, Change of Dry Clothes (can be left in the car).
- Launch and take out sites are equipped with vault toilets but **NO RUNNING WATER.**
Special Considerations:
- Double kayak options available.
- Contact us if you have children under 8 years old, special physical needs, exceed 250 lbs.
- Children under 12 years old are required to be in a double kayak with an adult guardian.

*The tour is subject to change or be canceled due to weather conditions. All participants must wear a PFD during the tour. No exceptions. Participants should be able to swim.*
*Riverbound is an authorized outfitter operating under permit through the Tonto National Forest Mesa District. We are permitted to provide tours at Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, and the Lower Salt River. All tour guides are CPR certified and ACA (American Canoe Association) certified for instruction, guiding, and water safety.*

Some things to know:
- Price includes equipment delivery at the designated launch location and collection of all gear at the designated pull out location. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to the river. Tonto parking passes are included and will be required for each vehicle parking in the recreation sites. Hotel pick up options may be available for an additional fee. Please call to arrange.
- Holiday Weekends- Arrive early as parking lots may close once full.

- Anything that can melt in your vehicle while you are out having fun!
