This full day hike and kayak adventure begins with a paddle across Trail Lake in Historic Moose Pass. Our guides bring this small Alaskan town’s history to life. The stories of locals like Alaska Nellie, the ghost of gold miner Al, Mad Sally (the cantankerous cat) and the famed Iditarod Trail provide plenty to ponder as you paddle along the shores of Trail Lake.
After a short paddle south, we’ll glide to a stop and hop out of our kayaks for a hike along a section of the Iditarod National Historic Trail as we head up and over the ridge to the stunning, blue waters of remote Grant Lake. While our hike is moderately rated in regard to the terrain, there’s no denying we’re in wild Alaska along this route due to the rapid growth of the vegetation in the spring and summer along the trail.
The feelings while staring out across Grant Lake are hard to describe and the views are breathtaking. We’ll take some time to have lunch here, then we’ll set out on kayaks once again to experience this area from the water before hiking back down the trail toward Moose Pass.

This tour is available for paddlers ages 7 and up. It is required that there is at least 1 adult per child.

**DAY OF DETAILS**
We are located in Moose Pass, less than 100 miles from Anchorage and 30 miles north of Seward. Please allow extra travel time for road construction and make sure to arrive early enough to head into Trail Lake Lodge or across the street to Estes Brother's Store to use the restroom and to get geared up before the tour start time. If you have not arrived by the designated time, your tour may leave without you, and you will not be eligible for a refund. Make sure to leave yourself plenty of travel time so that you don't "miss the boat."
**SAFETY NOTE FOR GRANT LAKE**
Please note that Grant Lake, the second glacial lake that we hike to on this tour, can be quite windy at times. It may not always be possible to kayak on Grant Lake, and if that is the case, your guide will suggest options such as paddling more on Trail Lake or relaxing after the hike to take in the views at the Grant Lake camp.
