**The Experience**
This is not your typical whale cruise — it’s a real ocean experience.
Each year from May to November, over 40,000 humpback whales migrate along the Gold Coast on their journey between Antarctica and the warm waters of Queensland.
Departing from Tweed Heads, our vessel heads offshore into the migration route, where whales are frequently seen breaching, tail-slapping and surfacing just metres from the boat.
Witnessing the humpback migration from the open ocean is one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences on Australia's east coast.

While most guests feel fine, the ocean can be unpredictable.
If you're prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking seasickness tablets at least 30 minutes before departure — and for extra peace of mind, you can also take them the night before.
Travacalm original, Travalcalm HO and Kwells are three recommended types. Ginger/Natural remedy does not work.
Avoid heavy meal before departure and stay hydrated.

#Essential Info for a Safe Experience
**1. Sign Your Waiver** To participate in the tour, all guests must sign a digital waiver. Please click the link above to sign and complete your registration before your trip day. Participation is legally barred until this is completed.
**2. Meeting Point & Timing** Arrive at the final boarding location confirmed in your booking email 15 minutes before departure for check-in and your safety briefing (e.g., if you are booked on a 7:30 trip, you must arrive by 7:15).
Please Note: Our manifest and departure times operate strictly on Queensland Time (AEST). Because we depart from the border region, it is your sole responsibility to account for any state time zone differences. The vessel cannot wait for late arrivals.
**3. Parking** There is plenty of free roadside parking available near the departure point. Please allow a few extra minutes during peak weekends to find a spot and walk down to the dock.
**4. Weather & Plan Changes** Our Whale Watching Adventure Tour is entirely weather-dependent. Ocean conditions can change rapidly, and trips may be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice due to rough sea swells or high winds. While cancellations can be frustrating, your safety is our absolute, non-negotiable priority. We appreciate your patience, kindness, and understanding as our team works to keep everyone safe.
**5. Seasickness & Remedies** While our custom catamaran is highly stable, the open ocean is still unpredictable. If you are prone to motion sickness, we strongly recommend taking over-the-counter seasickness tablets at least 30 minutes before departure—for extra peace of mind, many guests find taking them the night before works best. Travacalm Original, Travacalm HO, and Kwells are three highly reliable choices. Natural remedies like ginger or wristbands typically do not work in open ocean swells. Avoid heavy, greasy meals beforehand (plain toast is best), stay hydrated, and bring a reusable water bottle.
**6. What to Bring** It is significantly colder out on the open water than it is on land! Come prepared with: a beanie, warm jumper, spray jacket, sunglasses, hat, camera, reusable water bottle, and your sense of adventure.
**7. Personal Items** Gold Coast Whale Watching Adventure Tours is not responsible for personal items. Bringing cameras, phones, and personal gear on board an open-ocean vessel is strictly at your own risk; we are not liable for any water spray, impact damage, loss, or theft. Please check your seating area carefully before disembarking. Unclaimed items left onboard will be disposed of or donated after three weeks.
**8. Children on Board** Our offshore safaris are designed for children aged 6 and above. All minors must be actively supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. The accompanying adult assumes full responsibility for the child's safety and behavior on deck
**9. Fitness & Accessibility** Guests must be reasonably mobile and able to board and move safely around the vessel unassisted. Due to the dynamic nature of crossing the river bar into open ocean swells, this tour is not suitable for guests in their third trimester of pregnancy (28 weeks and above), or individuals with severe chronic back or neck injuries. Please contact our team in advance if you have any physical mobility concerns.

**Boat Etiquette**
- Follow all instructions from crew and skipper at all times.
- Stay seated when when the boat is in motion or advised.
- Maintain three points of contact when walking on the boat.
- Be respectful of other passengers when taking photos or moving on deck.
- Keep noise to a minimum during sightings—let the whales take the spotlight!
- Keep your personal items neat and out of the way to avoid clutter.
- Dispose of trash properly Never throw anything overboard.
**Whale Interaction Guidelines**
- We operate under Australian National Guidelines.
- Whales may approach us—this is called a “mugging.” In these moments, we turn off engines and stay still.
- No touching, feeding, or throwing items into the water.
- Please avoid banging on the boat or making sudden loud noises that could disturb the animals.
**Environmental Awareness**
- Do not litter—please use onboard bins.
- Bring only reusable water bottles and reef-safe sunscreen.
- Choose reusable options whenever possible to reduce waste and help protect the ocean.
- Ask our team questions! We love sharing knowledge about the incredible whales and marine life we encounter.

All trips require a reserved place on our vessel, with limited spaces available.
- All bookings are non-refundable once confirmed
- A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to reschedule
- Missed trips, No-shows or late cancellations are non-refundable.
- Rescheduling is subject to availability
For third-party vouchers, payments and refunds are handled by the provider.
