About This Trip
- This 2-2.5 hour guided adventure includes an intermediate paddle upriver with multiple stops to local springs, a relaxing drift back to Gilchrist Blue Springs, which features a beautiful quarter mile stretch of blue clear water and vibrant vegetation. There's an opportunity to swim in the 20ft blue water swimming hole, with a relaxing float and short paddle back to the launch site (Rum Island County Park) located just across the river.
- Each tandem kayak fits 2 people
- There are three springs with deeper areas where participants can take a quick swim if they choose. Nature surrounds the clear spring water everywhere you turn.
- Be on the lookout for many different species of birds, plants, turtles, fish, otters, alligators and more!
- River water may turn tannic (darker brown) in color on occasion due to excess rains. During seasons of low rain the river will be amber see-through brown in our paddling area. Due to the uniqueness of the river and springs in the area, flood stages can affect Rum Island and Jonathan spring turning them from Blue to Brown. (If any concerns don’t hesitate to contact the front office prior to booking!) Gilchrist Blue Springs will always be clear and blue!

- The weight limit is 425 pounds per boats and no more than 250 pounds per seat. Each of our kayaks are doubles (tandem).

#-WHERE TO MEET:
We meet at Rum Island County Park located at: [1447 SW Rum Island Ter. In this area you will find your guide and he or she will then begin to check you in. (Hint: Look for the clear kayaks)!
Please be aware there is a $5.00 per vehicle Admission/Parking Fee for Rum Island County Park Day Pass and this can be paid with credit card or cash at the kiosk while entering the park. Park closes at dusk. PLEASE NOTE: If the parking area is full, we do have a designated parking area. Our guides can help direct you to the correct spot.
#-ARRIVAL TIME:
Make sure to arrive early (we suggest 15 minutes early) and allow yourself time to park and use the restroom if needed prior to your tour time. Please be mindful of others time and plan to arrive early on your tour day!
#-SIGN YOUR WAIVERS:
Please ensure all members of your party sign their waivers **prior to arriving**. This will help maximize your time on the water the day of your tour as the internet/service area is spotty and it will be difficult to fill out on site. You will receive a separate email to sign the waivers. **Everyone in your party must have a signed waiver** submitted and checked before you can kayak.
#-WHAT TO BRING:
In order to ensure you have a great experience, here's a few items we suggest bringing:
- **WATER SHOES** (crocs work great!)
- BUG SPRAY (optional - PLEASE only use deet-free bug spray if you choose to bring any)
- EXTRA WATER (ideally in a reusable water container)
- SMALL SNACK
- TOWEL (for afterwards)
- CHANGE OF CLOTHES (for afterwards)
- SWIM SUIT (or clothes that can get wet)
- **Also, a friendly reminder: our guides work on the generosity from tips. If you haven't tipped in advance we recommend tipping in cash! We like to say, "If you enjoyed your ride, tip your guide!"**

As a reminder, the parking pass/entrance fee covers additional amenities for Rum Island County Park that you are welcomed to enjoy for the duration of your trip including:

- PICNIC BENCHES
- MULTIPLE FRESH WATER SPRINGS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE
- NO ANIMALS (Service Pets Only)
