About
Your instructor will supply the surfboards, rash guards and booties. Once you are suited up the safety briefing begins: You will learn about ocean safety, wave etiquette and reef awareness. Then on to the physical fundamentals such as how to paddle efficiently, pop-up to your feet, set your stance, turn with style and dismount to a seated position at rides end. This Pre Training is the frame work that sets the tone for your entire experience, and you will find this preparation pays off BIG TIME once you hit the water. With a little help picking out the right waves and occasional push-in’s from your coach, you will be up and riding in no time.

This is surfing made easy! Having the right coach, the right board and the right spot is all it takes to get you started and stoked on SURFING. It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 75, this is your chance to learn!

#DIRECTIONS TO UKUMEHAME BEACH ( "THOUSAND PEAKS" ):
Ukumehame State Beach is where we’ll meet for your surf lesson. Located
on the southwest shore of Maui, it's midway between Maalaea and Oluwalu.
Please check the "LOCATIONS" page on our website to view a map showing
the exact location relative to your driving route. [This will help you
get an idea of your drive time to reach us.](https://soulsurfingmaui.com/easy-to-find-us/)

#DRIVING TIPS:
Keep an eye on the mile markers as you get close — these are small green
signs on the mountain side of the road. We will be parked directly on
the sand between the "12" and "12.5" mile markers, about 200 yards west
of Ukumehame Beach Park.

#FINDING US ONCE YOU ARRIVE:
The beach is about a 1/4 mile long, so we’ll drop you a pin with our
exact parking spot as soon as we arrive. To make finding us as easy as
possible, we’ll also send you a text with a picture of our car so you
can easily spot us when you arrive. Feel free to park your car anywhere
near us on the hard-packed gravel.
Parking Note: Keep your car on the hard-pack shoulder — do not pull into
the soft sand, as your car could get stuck unless you have a
4-wheel-drive.
