About
Rare experiences, new horizons, life-long memories – and all in just four brilliant and unforgettable days. This 4-day sea kayaking expedition is an ideal way to experience the majesty of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area if your time is at a premium, or you are new to paddling or wilderness camping.
A spectacular flight deep into the World Heritage Area wilderness of southwest Tasmania - paddling to remote and beautiful destinations in protected waterways – these are the highlights of our 4-Day sea kayak expedition.
Bathurst Harbour, in Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area, offers a combination of sheltered wilderness harbours, remote islands and wild rivers. There are no roads and no settlements. Discover spectacular destinations in the best way possible - by water, at paddling pace.
Our guides know this pristine wilderness intimately – all the sheltered bays and open beaches, the peaks and islands and every hidden corner. After a spectacular flight to the remote airstrip at Melaleuca your days will be spent exploring one of Tasmania’s most remote and beautiful wilderness waterways, paddling through perfect reflections in the tannin-stained waters, beneath mountains that rise from the shore and stopping in at sandy beaches.
Previous kayaking experience is not necessary, but it is important to have a sound level of fitness, and, most of all, a sense of adventure.
Our kayaking experiences take place in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. We are privileged to be the only kayaking guides with permission to operate in this unique and special place and we are committed to sustainable and responsible environmental practices.

Booking Notes
We believe the Bathurst Harbour area is one of the best areas for adventurous multi-day paddling in Australia and we look forward to sharing this special part of Tasmania's Southwest World Heritage Wilderness with you.
**What to bring:**
You need similar gear to what you would carry on a bushwalking trip – although when you travel by kayak the weight isn’t on your back.
Thermals and fleece clothing is ideal as it is light and warm. You will need walking boots or comfortable shoes for exploring ashore and a change of dry gear for the evening. A waterproof and windproof jacket, sun hat, warm hat and gloves are all essential.
**And most of all – bring your sense of adventure!**
###BALANCE OF PAYMENT:
The balance of your payment is due 60 days prior to your departure date. A payment reminder will be emailed to you before the payment is due.
###MEDICAL TRAVEL AND WAIVER FORMS:
Medical, travel and waiver forms are also required 60 days prior to your departure date. A link to these forms will be emailed at the same time as your payment reminder. Note you will need your flight and Hobart accommodation details when completing these forms.
###FLIGHTS:
Our flight into Melaleuca in Southwest Tasmania is scheduled to depart from Cambridge Airport at 11:30am. You will need to be at the Cambridge Airport at **10:30am**. We can pick you up from Hobart City, or you can make your own way to Cambridge Airport where there is free unsecured parking.
We highly recommend participants do not arrange onwards travel for at least 24 hours after their trip finish date and time as our access into Southwest Tasmania is by light aircraft. These planes cannot operate in extremes of weather or poor visibility. While it is unusual, delays can occur on these flights.
###TRAVEL INSURANCE:
Roaring 40°s Kayaking will not be responsible for any expenses incurred due to delays that are out of our control. We highly recommend that you purchase insurance to cover any expenses associated with such delays and/or unforeseen cancellations (including COVID illness). We recommend Covermore Travel Insurance which includes COVID cancellation cover.
###PREPARATION:
The best way to prepare for a kayaking expedition is, you guessed it, go kayaking. We recommend starting off with short distances and building up to a couple of hours. You can find out more tips on preparing for your kayaking expedition HERE.
